Put Me In, Coach

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous.  Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14

There have been many times in life when I felt as though I was sitting on the sidelines while God called everyone else into action—except me.

Was I not good enough? I was always picked last in kickball, too.

Why wasn’t He using me?

I just didn’t understand—I wanted to be used by God!

Isn’t that what He wanted, too?

God does want us to be willing—willing to do whatever He calls us to—even waiting.

The coach doesn’t just throw the rookie into the game without any training. He tries to ensure that his player is in the perfect situation to succeed in the game.

So it is with our Heavenly Father. He prepares us. He doesn’t just throw us in without any uniform or padding.

And, when we are truly being used by God, we are unaware of our impact, the Holy Spirit’s impact, the way we are being used. That is not our chief concern. Our chief concern is obedience to our Coach.

The results are in His hands.

Are you tired of sitting on the sidelines? Tired of being the water boy/girl?  Perhaps that’s exactly where God wants you.

And, your life may be changing every player on the team . . . while you’re waiting.
