The Pursuit of What Matters

"But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.  Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” I Timothy 6:11-12

The things that the world has to offer can be intoxicating. The problem with intoxication is that it doesn’t last. It is temporary. When we finally awaken from our stupor, we find that we have missed out on what really matters—those things that last, those things that are eternal.

Matthew 6:33 reminds us what matters, when it says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

When you look at your life, your checkbook, what do you see there?

Do you see a life that is pursuing God? Or, do you see a life that is pursuing money, things, and all that the world has to offer?

2 Corinthians 4:18b reminds us, “For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

May we awaken from our stupor to find the person of Jesus Christ and all that He has to offer us today.
