The Worst Sinner

This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 1 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬

Reading these words that the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy might prompt a discussion with the dear brother up in Heaven.  I, too, believe I am the worst of sinners and grateful beyond words for God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness.

Are you?

When we examine the beautiful but smut-filled lives of the individuals and families both used and rescued by God in the Holy Bible, there is nothing the present day has on them in terms of shock factor; but, the amazing thing to consider is God’s power to redeem.

Examine the lives of the patriarchs.  There is nothing in their lives that could have earned salvation.

It is the same with us.

Scripture tells us that the prophet, Elijah, “was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!"

The point here is God’s ability to use any of us for His purposes.  It is such a joy and comfort to know this!  It encourages the heart to give up its own selfish ways and follow the path of Jesus wherever He leads.

Are you doing this? Are you following wherever He leads?  Or, are you still in a tug-of-war over something you’d rather not give to Him?  My friend, we’re talking about your eternal life here.  

Let go of the rope.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 16:25, “ If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”  These words are repeated in Mark 8:35 and Luke 9:24.

Are you the worst sinner?  Turn your life completely over to Christ and watch what He will do.
