Joy in Devouring God's Word
"When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies." Jeremiah 15:16
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God” (Revelation 19:9).
Have you feasted yet on God's Word today?
I'm not talking about a nice appetizer, soup, or salad, mind you. I am talking about a full-on gluttonous gorging such that you find His Word and its truths too delectable to put aside but for the call within its pages to act—to act upon what you find there.
In Psalms 34:8 we read, "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!"
It is the truest of all comfort foods, my friend. When the world understands us not, and the cultural Christian challenges His diet for options less heart healthy, there is no greater peace to be found than at His dinner table.
Psalms 63:5 delights the soul with this truth, "You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy."
One day we will enjoy the ultimate feast with Christ, our Saviour, if we are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb. May we devour His Word and live it in anticipation of this, His invitation.
Goodnight, Runners.
