The Freedom That Lasts
"But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ." Galatians 3:22
"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
As our nation celebrates 250 years of freedom this day, let us never forget the true source of this freedom. It is Jesus Christ alone.
James 1:17 tells us, "Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow."
Every good thing we have ever enjoyed in this nation has been a gift from Almighty God. Truly, the founding fathers of this great experiment known as the United States of America understood this truth. They understood the biblical priniciples of integrity, hard work, and sacrifice. The tenets of the revolution were first fought and won in the pulpits of our churches before any gun was ever drawn. George Whitefield, Jonathan Mayhew and others served to powerfully preach the truth about tyranny and freedom from Scripture such that it stirred and softened the hearts of men and women to God's call for their lives. And we see that these truths permeate every document of our founding.
Let us return to the truth of the Holy Bible lest we cease to exist as a nation. Let us restore prayer, the teaching of the Holy Bible, and the Ten Commandments to every school. Let us turn aside from greed and avarice, caring more what our God thinks of us.
And let us humbly repent of sin, pray, and seek the face of our loving and merciful Father in Heaven.
Happy Independence Day, Runners.
