Figuring It Out
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
Are you someone who likes to have things all figured out?
Me, too.
I try to figure out what God is up to and what He’s doing in my life and the lives of others, and then act how I think He wants me to in order to help His plan.
Funny thing is, I’m never right. That’s because, as Isaiah 55:8 points out, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine (Isaiah 55:8, NLT).”
When we try to figure out God’s thoughts and plans we end up in this frantic mind loop that remains unresolved because we’re just never going to figure it all out. More importantly, we forget the one thing that pleases God.
Faith.
There are so many things in this world that we will never understand, as hard as we may try.
And that’s okay.
If we know Jesus, we don’t need to have all the answers because we know the One who does. And, He’s working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them (Romans 8:28).
That’s real joy.
Goodnight, Runners.
