The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But The Truth - Part Deux
"So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, 'If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" John 8:31-32
To not have the truth about a matter can be quite maddening. Even more maddening is the fact that we fail to see what is right before our eyes.
Like the lost car keys that are in our very hand, or the phone we are using to explain to a family member that we cannot find our phone ANYWHERE, the truth is rarely elusive. In fact, Jesus' words of instruction throughout the Gospels are often preceded with these words, demanding our focus, "I tell you the truth . . .". Clearly, we need the repetition and focus.
Jesus goes on to tell us the definition of truth, as well.
Him.
In John 14:6 we read, "Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'"
The more we get to know the person of Jesus Christ through daily, moment-by-moment communion with Him through prayer and the Word, the easier it becomes to recognize the truth in every aspect of life every day.
Do you know the truth?
Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment." Proverbs 23:23
Goodnight, Runners.
