Distinguishing Between God and the World
"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." 1 John 5;4
Acts 17:27 says, "His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us."
Do you know how much God loves you?
Living in a broken and fallen world we have a tendency to become confused about where the world stops and God begins. He is the very definition of love (1 John 4:8). The world is not. Remember that the world rejected Jesus. They rejected our Father, God.
It is important to make the distinction between God and the world.
When we make this distinction, then we begin to get our hearts and minds around God's great love for us and the amazing ways He demonstrates this love. We believe because, how could we not? We become fearless. What could the world possibly do to us that God could not work for eternal glory and good?
Answer: Nothing.
Living in this ol' world and experiencing trials, temptations, and tribulations we can lose sight of God's loving reality and truth. When we experience deep wounds, especially from someone claiming to be a follower of Jesus, we can forget that He is still only good, only faithful, only true, and only love.
But. He. Is.
If you needed the reminder today, may I encourage you to spend some time alone with God? Let Him remind you that He is closer than He's ever been to you, right now.
Acts 17:27 says, "His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us."
And 1 John 5:5 tells us, "Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"
Do you believe?
Goodnight, Runners.
