Happy Mother's Day

“My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.” Proverbs 1:8

As we pause to honor our mothers, I am reminded of how very blessed I am to have had a mother who loved Jesus and taught me about His great love for me.  She discipled me in Scripture, taught me about prayer, taught me about confession and repentance, helped me to memorize Scripture, and guided me in God's truth throughout my life until her passing to our heavenly home.

When I was little, I was a fearful and anxious child.  My mother always soothed me with this truth, "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee" (KJV).  To this day, I am still comforted by this truth from God's Word—even more so now, having tested it over many years and trials.

My mother taught me to kneel at my bedside each morning, giving the day to the Lord, taking up my cross to follow Him.  She taught me to kneel and recount my day to the Lord, and better yet, to walk with Him throughout each moment of the day.

Momma sang often, filled with joy, and instilled in me a love of music.  She loved to cook, and passed this blessing on to me, as well.  She had the wonderful gift of inspiring others, especially the young, encouraging them that anything was possible.

She taught me to sew and crochet, to play the piano, to bake, and to do algebra at a very young age.

And she taught me to write.

What an amazing gift!

"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:30, ESV).

I love you, Momma, and I miss you.  I'll be home soon.

Goodnight, Runners.
