How Delightful

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4

Waiting in line recently at Chick Fil A, I smiled to hear the sweet attendant as she said, "My pleasure," in response to the patron's, "Thank you."  I truly felt she meant the words rather than just spouting off the memorized script as so many do.  She said it from her heart.  The question struck me quite powerfully, is my own heart the same toward Jesus?

Am I, are you delighted to serve Jesus today?  Or, is obedience to Him a burden to you?

While I have long loved the verse of Scripture above and recall it often as a favorite, I don't believe I fully grasped the true delight, the immense joy He is!

Do you?

As I have pondered this idea, the Spirit has lovingly brought SO MANY verses to my mind, reminding me of God's goodness, that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30), His fathomless blessing, and the fact that He delights in me, too!

Psalm 18:19 says, "He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me."

Psalm 22:8 tells us, "He trusts in the Lord; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!”

Psalm 35:27 thrills us with, "Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”

And, Psalm 41:11, "By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me."

This is only the beginning.  There is so much more!  Clearly, David knew what delighting in the Lord was all about—how delightful!

Do you?

Goodnight, Runners.
