Crevices of Compromise

“Be very, very careful never to compromise with the people there in the land where you are going, for if you do, you will soon be following their evil ways."  Exodus 34:12

Are there crevices along the sidewalk of your journey with Jesus?

Upon recent examination of my own walk with the Lord, He lovingly showed me some areas in which I had allowed the culture to take precedence over the truth of His Word.  I was reminded of what happens when we fail to address small crevices in things.  They become cracks.  The cracks then get bigger.  They spread and grow until they have destroyed the entire thing of beauty and must be destroyed or rebuilt.

You are a thing of beauty.

I have noticed that small areas of compromise in many a person and even a church begin to permeate whole denominations of people and lead them astray.  Jesus warned us of these things.

In Matthew 16:6, we read, “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

And, Proverbs 25:26 tells us, "If a godly man compromises with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring."

We find this theme repeated throughout Scripture, to not compromise, to follow Jesus.  When we compromise—even just a little bit—we are not following Jesus.

"Happy are all who perfectly follow the laws of God.  Happy are all who search for God and always do his will, rejecting compromise with evil and walking only in his paths."  Psalm 119:1-3

Goodnight, Runners.
