The World Revolves Around Him

"I will go to those once-desolate cities that are now filled with people again—those who have returned from all the nations—and I will capture vast amounts of loot and many slaves. For the people are rich with cattle now, and the whole earth revolves around them!”  Ezekiel 38:12

There was a joke popular when I was a college student.  The joke was, "How many Baylor girls does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"  The answer:  "One, and the world revolves around her."  The joke was meant to mock the superficiality and self-centeredness of university girls at the time, and while I considered it exaggerated, if we're not careful, we can accuse others of superficiality and self-centeredness and miss our very own.

Ezekiel 38 talks about just such a time near history's end when Israel will be attacked by their enemies to the north--Gog and Magog--perhaps Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Russia, and others.  These enemies will accuse peaceful and blessed Israel of becoming rich and self-absorbed.  But the Holy Bible tells us that those nations coming against Israel will be destroyed.  They have misjudged and accused Israel falsely and failed to look in their own mirror.

Sounds like Satan, doesn't it?  He is the accuser.

In Ezekiel 38:4a God tells Ezekiel what He will do to Gog and Magog for this false accusation and self-absorbed attack on His people, "I will put hooks into your jaws and pull you to your doom."

If ever we needed to turn away from the culture and follow our Savior, obey Him speedily, that time is now.

Scripture tells us in Isaiah 5:26, "He will send a signal to the nations far away, whistling to those at the ends of the earth, and they will come racing toward Jerusalem.”

And, Isaiah 11:12 says, "He will raise a flag among the nations for them to rally to; he will gather the scattered Israelites from the ends of the earth.”

I don't know about you, but I am beginning to see the flag and hear the whistle, and I want to rally to my Jesus there.

One day at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (read Philippians 2:9-11).

Do you have your plane ticket?

The world doesn't revolve around Baylor girls, Gog, Magog, or even Israel.  The world revolves around Him.

Goodnight, Runners.
