Leveling the Field

"The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts." 1 Samuel 2:7

If the past six months have taught us anything, they have taught us that our loving Heavenly Father hears our prayers and is more than the sleeping giant in the sky some think Him to be.  He has shown us that with the simple wave of His hand He is able to bring the mighty low and exalt the small ones.

There are times when He seems quiet, but He is always working.  His voice can be heard, His deeds seen, if we are listening, watching intently for Him.

These are the days and times in which our blessed Redeemer flexes his muscle, if I may reverently say so, and He shows the world that He is God.  He is on His throne and is now and always will be Lord of all He has made.

But, what if you feel as though things have not been fair to you?  What if you, already low, have been brought lower still during the pandemic?  What if you are looking around and seem to see the wicked flourishing in these times of trouble?  Job (Job 21), David (Psalms 73:3), and Jeremiah (Jeremiah 12) felt the same way.  When we read the dialogue between God and Jeremiah in Jeremiah Chapter 12, we see the sweet reminder that God isn't finished.  He's still leveling the field, and when the wicked least expect it, they should expect it.

Their time will come.

And, yours will, too.

Titus 2:11-14 tells Jesus' followers, "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works."

May our loving Jesus strengthen our faith and encourage us all with these words.

Goodnight, Runners.
