Purposeful Pop Quiz

"Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching."  2 Timothy 4:2

How about a little pop quiz tonight?  The answers will be posted tomorrow night.

According to the Holy Bible, is the following statement true or false?

1.  There are seven things the Lord detests.

2.  There are many ways to get to Heaven.

3.  If you do more good things than bad things, you will go to Heaven.

4.  You must be baptized if you want to go to Heaven.

5.  People continuing to live a homosexual lifestyle can enter the Kingdom of Heaven just like anyone else.

6.  It's okay to have sex outside of marriage as long as neither of you are currently married.

7.  The Holy Bible is silent about the use of corporal punishment in the way we discipline our children.

8.  If you don't forgive others, God won't forgive you.

9.  Only people with the gift of evangelism are required to tell others about Jesus.

10. Love covers a multitude of sins.

The point here is certainly not to shame or embarrass anyone, or to stir up argument and dissension--just the opposite.  The intent is to encourage us all to know Jesus more, to know His Word more, to talk about Him with others more, and to rebel against the current culture and adopt God's radical, wonderful standards.

2 Peter 1:4 tells us, "And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires."

"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.  Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.  This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ."  Ephesians 4:11-13

Goodnight, Runners.
