Coming Back

When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes." Matthew 24:37-39

The signs of Jesus' return are everywhere.

Have you noticed that?  If not, you should read the 24th Chapter of Matthew.

Jesus told us repeatedly to keep watch for His return, and He used parables to reinforce this point.

In the parable of the ten virgins or bridesmaids in Matthew 25, there were five wise and five foolish.  The five foolish didn't take enough oil for their lamps, and the five wise took along extra oil.  When the bridegroom was delayed, they all fell asleep.  Then, when the shout came that the bridegroom was coming, the bridesmaids got up to prepare their lamps.  The five foolish asked the wise to share their oil.  But the wise said there was not enough, and sent them to a shop to buy for themselves.  Then, when the bridegroom came, the five wise were ready to join Him at the marriage feast.  But, the door was locked to the foolish ones.

It was too late.

Mark Chapter 13 compares the return of Jesus to a man going on a long journey.  He gives instruction to each of his servants regarding the work they are to do, and tells the gatekeeper to keep watch for his return.

Are you watching for His return, friend?  Are you sharing His truth with everyone you know?  Or, are you ashamed to share the Good News?

Matthew 24:36 tells us, "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows."

And, Mark 8:38 says, "If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

If Jesus were to come back today, what would He find you doing?  Are you living life on your terms or on His?  Are you ready for His return?

May He find us with lamps trimmed and burning bright when He returns to take us home.

Goodnight, Runners.
