Condoning Sin

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  John 8:31-32

Isn’t it sad that many in our society have twisted their evil desires to the point that they are now calling them rights?

I believe it is really just about condoning sin.  They want someone to tell them it’s okay to sin in order to justify it.  So, if they can get a law passed to support all the bad things they want to do, then they will suddenly feel good about their bad behavior.

Sad, isn’t it?

They still have a twinge of conscience left or they wouldn’t be fighting so hard.  Without that twinge of conscience, they wouldn’t care what the law was, much less what anyone else thought—they would just do whatever they want.

And some do.

But, do you recognize who’s behind it?  It’s not any person.  No, it’s that old familiar dragon, Satan.  He thinks that if immorality is legalized then whole generations will be lost, and that’s just what he wants.

He’s right, too.

But, God is greater.  His power is stronger.  And, if you’ve read to the end of the story, you know He wins!  And, those who follow Him win, too.  That doesn’t mean we should sit back and do nothing.  No, God’s Word commands us to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and much, much more.  God’s truth is powerful.

Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

All the churches and all the governments in the world can condone sin and say it’s right. That still doesn’t change what God says.

Goodnight, Runners.
