Somewhere in My Youth or Childhood . . .

"Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow."  James 1:17

Do you remember when Fraulein Maria, played by Julie Andrews, sings the song, Something Good in the movie, The Sound of Music?

Something Good from The Sound of Music

It's a beautiful scene.  So romantic, as Baron Von Trapp and Fraulein Maria proclaim their love to one another.  The song, too, is so beautiful.

But, there's something missing.

God.

Every good and perfect gift comes from Him.

It's not dependent upon us, or on what we do . . . in our youth or childhood.

It's all about Him.  His goodness.  His grace.

While it is true that we all reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7-8; 2 Corinthians 9:6; James 3:18), we must remember that the only way, the only One who enables us to sow, to do anything good at all is God.  Even our own salvation is not the result of anything good we do.  Ephesians 2:9 tells us, "Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."  I don't know about you, but that just makes me all the more grateful.

Somewhere in my youth or childhood, He must have done something good.

Goodnight, Runners.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book
in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home
a bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog.
A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.
