Tradition

Tradition is a nice word
I like it very much

I’ve heard it almost all my life
In schools and church and such

It doesn’t mean to hurt you
Or cause you any pain

It simply wants its own way
It wants things nice and sane

Jesus said we shouldn’t void
God’s Word for our tradition

But many didn’t like that
They accused Him of sedition

They didn’t like things shaken
Or different from the norm

In fact, this non-tradition—
It started quite a storm

So, if you’ve always done things
The way you always know

Just blame it on tradition
But don’t expect to grow
