Keep On Keeping On

Jesus replied, “Go tell that fox that I will keep on casting out demons and healing people today and tomorrow; and the third day I will accomplish my purpose."  Luke 13:32

Last spring I started running.  And although I have taken the run indoors and out of the elements in order to be consistent, today I am still running.

Are you?

Running is one of those things that teaches us a great deal about ourselves.  Setbacks are sure, but it is what we do when we encounter those setbacks that is most important.  We should surround ourselves with people who encourage us and build us up, but when they aren't around, do we still have the intestinal fortitude to keep going?  Or, do we give up and quit?

The Holy Bible encourages us all over the place to keep going in a different race, a more important race:  the Christian life.

Romans 2:7 says, "He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers."

Hebrews 13:1 says, "Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters."

James 1:2-3 tells us, "Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow."

Romans 12:12 encourages us with these words, "Rejoice in our confident hope.  Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying."

And, Romans 2:9 admonishes us with these words, "There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile."

Will you keep on keeping on?

In Acts 20:24 we read, "But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God."

Someone's got to keep telling the Good News.  Will that someone be you?

Goodnight, Runners.
