Real Religion

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27

Every day we are bombarded with messages through television, radio, the internet, and others that are completely contrary to the Word of God. When we allow these messages to infiltrate our lives, they corrupt us.

How can we avoid this corruption and practice the pure and real religion that James 1:27 is talking about?

We must stay focused on our relationship with Christ through daily prayer and reading His Word. There is no substitute for this.

We must also seek to care for the needs of others, including those in our own family, and trust that God will provide for our daily needs.

It is an active, disciplined process. It does not mean sitting idly and doing nothing.

Real religion is an active pursuit of righteousness, day-in and day-out. It isn’t glamorous or filled with fame, but it does provide a deep, abiding joy that cannot be compared to anything else on earth.

Psalm 106:3 says, “There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right.”

May your life reflect the pure and genuine religion that pleases God the Father today and every day.
