In the Quiet

"Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him."   Psalm 62:5

It is quiet in my house now.

Just a few days ago, the house was abuzz with activity and the craziness of four people going in different directions, then talking about it all over the dinner table . . . one of my favorite parts of the day.  The funny stories, the stresses, frustrations, laughter, upcoming activities . . . just watching them grow and mature brings me such joy and pleasure.

I already miss having my two children at the dinner table, but if the Lord allows, we will be there together again.  And, I cherish the memories.

But, while I cherish the memories and special times, I must resist the urge to dwell there for too long.  God has opened wonderful doors of opportunity for my children, and I couldn't be more excited to see where He takes them.

He's opening doors of opportunity for me, too.  I may not see them yet, but I know by faith that they are there.  Too many people do not know the love of God, the joy that comes from a life lived in obedience to Him, so I must tell them and I must not delay.

John 9:4 tells us, "We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work."

It is quiet in my house now, and the quiet is new and different, but God is working--even when I don't hear Him.  I've come to learn He often operates in stealth mode.  And, as I wait quietly before Him, my hope explodes into passion.  Then, when I listen and seek His guidance, He teaches me.

In the quiet, I will seek Him.  I hope you will, too.

"Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him."  Psalm 105:4

Goodnight, Runners.
