Strike Up The Band

The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the Lord with these words: “He is good! His faithful love endures forever!” At that moment a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord.”  2 Chronicles 5:13

Are you easily discouraged?

In the past, I was easily discouraged, too.

It all began to change when I started spending more time in God's Word each day.  I had been a daily Bible reader from the time I was young.  But, moving from a few verses to several chapters a day made a real difference in my life.  The encouragement on every page silenced the negative influences, those people who can never find a positive word to say about anything or anyone.  I began to see that the negativity and discouragement were signs of a heart condition--a heart condition that only God can cure.

Throughout Scripture we find wonderful words of encouragement to build us up and remind us of who we are and where our true focus should be, like Isaiah 41:10, which says, "Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."

Sometimes it’s hard not to let the naysayers get the better of you.  But, over time, I’ve learned not to let them bother me.  Let the rain clouds drizzle in their own little corner of the world.  We'll keep shining the light, playing the song, and marching on.  So, strike up the band!

Won’t you join me?  You can play the cymbals.

Goodnight, All.
