Truth in Tinkertoys

"The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.  Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Do you remember Tinkertoys?

As children, my brother, sister and I loved them.  Sometimes we would each stockpile one particular type of Tinkertoy, such as the rods, spools, or connector clips.  But it never took very long to realize that we couldn’t really do anything or make anything unless we put our different pieces together.

It is the same with all the different members in the body of Christ. We need each other.

Romans 12:6 tells us, “In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you."

First Corinthians 12:18 says, “But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it."

Maybe you don't believe God needs you or can use you.  Or, maybe you think someone else can do the job better.

God wants you.

If you'll let Him, God will put you right where He wants you.

Perhaps you’re a flag, an endcap, or a coupling.  Whichever part you are, you belong to the same set of Tinkertoys.

And, we can’t make the airplane without you.
