Knowing the Shepherd's Voice

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."   John 10:27

I love this video.  It depicts the relationship of the world to Christ so beautifully, and better than anything I could put into words.

Notice how excited the sheep are who know the shepherd.  And, he feeds them, he rewards them for coming.  Notice, too, the sheep that simply wander away.  One stops between the two groups, not knowing which way to go.  Another stands at the edge, seeming to know the shepherd's voice, but not partaking in the food that is offered.

Which sheep are you?

Sometimes sheep are not very smart, and they wander away easily.  When King David wandered away from God, he prayed, "I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands" (Psalm 119:176).  And, God did find David, carrying him home in His arms.

The Holy Bible compares us to sheep throughout its pages.

Isaiah 40:11 says, "He will feed his flock like a shepherd.  He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart.  He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young."

It is a beautiful picture of the Father's loving care for us.

Are you allowing Him to care for you?

May you know and hear the shepherd's voice today.   And, may we run to follow close after Him when we hear Him call.

Goodnight, Runners.
