Not Your Every Day Fruit-of-the-Month Club

"Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations."  Revelation 22:1–2 (TLB)

I am always astounded at the perfect planning of God. He works things out down to the smallest detail to bless mankind. Each plant and tree blossoms and provides its goodness at just the right time. Lemons ripen during cold and flu season. Peaches ripen in summer giving us extra beta carotene to protect us from sun damage and giving us extra energy in the heat. Simply amazing.

In the new Jerusalem, there will be a tree of life bearing twelve crops of fruit, a fresh crop each month, on each side of the river of life. This scripture tells us that the leaves from the tree of life will be used as medicine to heal the nations.

It is a picture of all the fullness of life with Christ—both now and forever. That tree of life, once guarded from Adam and Eve to protect them from dwelling in sin for eternity, now full of life-giving fruit for all of Christ’s followers to partake.

Are you hungry for the fruit of the Holy Spirit? Are you thirsty for the river of life?

May we come to the Bread of Life and believe, that we may never be hungry or thirsty again (John 6:35).
