The Fine Art of Shutting Up

“Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.”  Proverbs 29:11

I often speak when I shouldn’t and say the wrong things.

Do you ever do that?

But, silence is not always golden. Sometimes we need to speak up, rather than shut up.

Do you know the difference?

It is a fine art.

Proverbs 18:20 says, “Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.”

Cooking a good meal, like any art, must be practiced. It is the same with shutting up. And, what flows out of a man or woman is that which is inside.

Luke 6:45 tells us, “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

May God fill our hearts and guide us all as we choose our words carefully before speaking.
