My Great Master

“Mary!” Jesus said.

She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!”

“Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them his message. John 20:16-18

It’s better than any movie scene, any love story you could ever possibly imagine.

I can see the scene. Can you?

Jesus calls her name, “Mary.” Then, the mix of exhilaration, joy, amazement and love upon her face as she realizes the one she mistook to be the gardener is her Lord, her Savior, her Jesus.

“Rabboni,” she calls him, which means, literally, ”my great master” in Hebrew. Oh, how she embraces Him with this one word!

It is the greatest love story of all time.

 And, it’s no fairy tale.

Once upon a time, God sent His one and only son, Jesus, to die on a cross for you and for me. But, death could not hold Him, and He rose from the grave!

And, if we believe and accept Him as our personal Savior, one day we will live happily ever after with Him.
