A Prayer for Deliverance

“For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.” Philippians 1:19

There are many accounts in the Bible of despair and deliverance. The key to unlocking the door of deliverance is faith. We must believe that God stands ready, willing and able to deliver us and meet us at our point of need. And, we must believe that He will deliver.

In my life, I can attest that God has always met me at my point of need. He has always delivered me—in every possible way imaginable. And, in each instance, God has used whatever trouble I have encountered to draw me ever closer to Him.

The Bible says in Psalm 40:2, “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”

God is ready to deliver you from the pit of despair. He is ready to set your feet on solid ground—to steady you as you walk.

No matter how big the mountain, God can help you climb it. As God delivered the Israelites from the land of Egypt, He stands ready to deliver you today.

2 Corinthians 1:9-11 tells us, “Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.”

Dear Heavenly Father,

O, how we need Your deliverance! Help us, Father, to depend completely and totally upon You as the source of our strength. We thank You for Your ability to deliver us. We ask that You strengthen our faith, Father, and help us in our weakness.

Lord, we believe that You will deliver ____________________________ from _____________________________________. We know that it is Your desire to set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1).

We thank You for delivering us out of the pit of despair in times past. We do not want to be enslaved by sin. We praise You for the freedom that comes from knowing and trusting in You (Romans 6:14).

We delight in Your Word and hunger for more of it constantly. We thank You for Your law of love.

Help us, O Lord, to find Your deliverance in all things.

In Jesus precious name we pray.

AMEN.
