A Prayer Regarding Finances
The Bible teaches us a great deal about money. Our handling of and dealing with money is a direct indication of our overall spiritual well-being—a barometer for the condition of our soul.
Hebrews 13:5 says, “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
Many of us improperly manage our finances, and due to our sin or the sin of a family member, we find ourselves in difficult circumstances. However, God loves us so much that He meets us at our point of need, and He commands us to do the same for others. 1 John 3:17 says, “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?"
God has a desire for us to be obedient to Him, and in that obedience is the richness and blessing of all that He has made. Tithing is an important part of our obedience to Him. A tithe is one-tenth of everything we receive.
God loves us so much more than our minds can comprehend, and He even tells us to test Him when it comes to our finances! Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”
Are you struggling in your finances today? Have faith in God. Allow Him to prove his faithfulness to you, and put His Word to the test.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are struggling with our finances. Specifically, we need ___________________________________.
We thank You, Father, and praise You for meeting our needs. Lord, Your blessings are too many to count. We humbly ask that You would teach us to be faithful to You in our giving. May we always be cheerful and generous givers, reflecting the manner in which we receive from You (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Father, help us to live out Your Word, as it is written in Luke 6:38, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
We thank You and praise You for being more than able to meet our need. Thank You for bending down and hearing our prayer and meeting our need.
May we be always faithful and ever-mindful of Your love and grace toward us.
We ask all these things in Your precious, holy name.
