Looking for Your Soulmate

Recently, I was talking with a friend about her marriage difficulties.  I had a great deal of empathy for what she was going through.  She asked what I would do in her situation.  I paused and said, "Well, I have someone else in my life.  When I'm having difficulties in my marriage, I talk to Him."

Her jaw dropped a bit and her eyes nearly popped out of her head.  "It's true," I confessed.  "He's perfect for me.  He listens intently, helps even before I ask, and He even rejoices over me with singing.  He's my one and only soulmate."

She said, "Wow!  I wish I could find someone like that!"

"You can," I said.  That someone is God.  What better relationship could you have than with the lover of your soul, your very Creator?  He is your true soulmate.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 54:5, "For your Maker is your husband—the LORD Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth."

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my soulmate.  I praise You for being everything that my heart and soul desire and more, Lord.

Thank You that I am dearly loved by You (John 16:27).  Help me to learn to depend upon You to meet all of my needs--mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

Forgive me for my selfish heart, and replace it with Your generous spirit.

We ask all these things in Your precious, holy name.

AMEN.
