A Prayer for Love

Are you feeling unloved? Or, perhaps you are being treated as though you are unlovable. Maybe you just feel unloved or unlovable. May I say to you that there is someone who loves you right now, and that His love is so far-reaching you cannot escape it. In fact, His love is so strong that there is nothing we can do or say that will make Him stop loving us. He is the definition of love itself. Without Him, all other love is incomplete. There is nowhere we can go where His love cannot reach down and carry us, hold us, wrap around us.

The Bible says in Romans 8:38-39, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Human love fails. We are weak and we all sin. But, God has a love that endures forever. Are you in need of this kind of love today?

You can pray and ask God to help you to receive His love.

O, Father in Heaven,

Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You (Psalm 63:3)! How we need Your love! We thank You, O God, that Your love is always and forever surrounding and abounding toward us.

Help us to receive that love and to give it back to everyone we meet, unconditionally. Help us to love the unlovable—including ourselves, Father. We thank You that You ARE love personified! We praise You for allowing us to commune with You—to have a personal relationship with You, Father.

Work Your perfect will in our lives, Lord, and bring other people into our lives who are in need of Your love. Give us the ability to show Your love to them, Father. May we love our neighbors as ourselves, Father. Help us to act in a manner that would point all mankind to You.

Forgive us when we fail in this attempt, Lord, and grant us endurance for this lifelong journey. Help me to be a committed rather than a casual Christian.

We ask all these things in Your precious, holy name.

AMEN.
