Prayer for a Hiding Place

“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.” Psalm 32:7

David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). David was not a perfect man, but he followed obediently after God for most of his life.  In spite of his obedience to God and desire to please Him, David encountered trials, temptations and difficulties. He was attacked by King Saul, his best friend’s father, who tried numerous times to kill him. Yet, in each attempt on David’s life, God provided a hiding place.

In Joshua 2, we learn how God provided a hiding place for two spies Joshua sent to Jericho as the Israelites were planning to take possession of the land God had promised them. Rahab, a woman who had previously made her living through prostitution, was used by God to provide a hiding place for the two men.

Are you in need of a hiding place today?

There is no trouble so great that God cannot provide a hiding place for you. Psalm 27:5 says, “For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.”

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my hiding place. I come to You when I am afraid, and You surround me with Your tender mercies so I may live (Psalm 119:77).

I praise You, Father, that You are my sanctuary—a safe place I can run to and find a place to hide. You calm my fears.

Keep my heart focused and obedient to Your Word. Guard me safely in Your embrace.

Lord, when I am afraid, I will trust in You (Psalm 56:3). Help my times of doubt and unbelief.

And, Father, when it is within my ability to do so, help me to be a hiding place for others who are in need of shelter.

In Your precious, holy name we pray.

AMEN.
