A Little Miss Muffet Prayer

Do you remember this one?

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on her tuffet
Eating her curds and whey.

Along came a spider
It sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

Can you relate to Miss Muffet?  Have you ever been just minding your own business when something or someone scared you off?

In my own life, the spider has come in many forms.  In one case, the spider came in the form of a man who sat beside me in Sunday School one Sunday morning.  He continued to follow me around the church week after week, and then began leaving typewritten cards on my door, telling me of dreams involving my death, and other terrifying things.  It turned out this man was a convicted murderer!  There was even a book written about the murders he committed.  This man was "nothing but a scurvy spider" as George Bailey would say.

But, God's Word gave me comfort when nothing and no one else could.  Psalm 32:7 says, "For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.  You surround me with songs of victory."

Are you facing a spider in your life today?  Has something or someone come along to frighten you away?  You can take it to the Lord in prayer.  He can be your hiding place from trouble no matter what form it takes.

May you find protection in Christ from everything scaring you today, and may you have the best day you've ever had in your life.
