A Cinderella Prayer

"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.  The government will rest on his shoulders.  And he will be called:  Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  Isaiah 9:6

Once upon a time . . . is the familiar beginning to my favorite fairy tale, Cinderella.  I love the story.  You have all of the elements life hands us:  virtue, truth, evil, injustice, and good wins out in the end.  Cinderella finds her Prince Charming and they live happily ever after.  It's great!

As a little girl, I never tired of the Cinderella story.  In fact, I often twirled around the house singing, "Someday my Prince Will Come," just like Cinderella.  And, I would often imagine my perfect Prince Charming.  Then, others would remind me that Prince Charming doesn't exist in real life--only in fairy tales.  Still, I held to the Cinderella story, and continued to hum my song.

But, in reading my Bible I realized that I no longer needed to sing, "Someday my Prince Will Come."  He was right there beside me all along.  He is the Prince of Peace.  Jesus is His name.

Are you still looking for Prince Charming?  He's already come for you, and the glass slipper He's holding is just your size.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being more than my Prince Charming, for You are my Prince of Peace.  Help me to always rest content in Your love for me.

We thank you that Your Word tells us You are our husband and Redeemer (Isaiah 54:5).  May we serve You with every ounce of our being.

In Your perfect name we pray, AMEN.

May you have the best day you've ever had in your life.
