Joy in Knowing of the End Times

Do you ever wonder what's going to happen in the future? Wouldn't it be nice to have a conversation with Jesus, and learn exactly that?

You can. In Matthew 24, Jesus is sitting on the Mount of Olives with the disciples who had come to Him privately, and they asked Him how He would signal His return and the end of the world. Jesus answered them very plainly. In fact, each and every time I read this passage, it takes my breath away.

In the chapter, Jesus compares the signs of the end of the age to the budding fig tree's announcement of summer. If you've ever had a fig tree in your yard, or watched one throughout the year, you know that the fig tree's change is astounding. The buds take over every branch, and new leaves and shoots appear everywhere! It is transformed completely. One would have to be blind not to recognize the change.

Jesus tells us the same is true of the end times. There will be such obvious signs, we will not be able to escape them! One would have to be blind not to recognize them.

Read Matthew 24. Oh, that our eyes may remain focused and open. May our hearts remain soft and tender. May our ears listen and hear what God's Word is saying to us in this passage of scripture. May we not be blind to the fig tree's announcement of summer, or to Christ's announcement of His return.

I pray that Matthew 24 would comfort and awaken your soul with great joy, and that you would have the best week you've ever had in your life.
