Just Do It -- Joyfully!

Young and old alike were inspired watching Michael Phelps in the 2008 Olympic games. His focus, drive, and determination to win were beyond motivating—they were brilliant. His mental preparation and will to succeed were nothing short of iron clad.

When any athlete prepares to run a race, there is a great deal of effort required in order to win. There is intense training—often accompanied by pain. A commitment is required. The runner must prepare his mind. And, he must also have endurance.

The Christian walk is no different. The Bible says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 NLT
The Nike Corporation is famous for its marketing slogan, “Just do it.” This slogan not only encompasses the philosophy of sports legends, like Michael Phelps, but it is the ideal of the Christian walk, as well. The Bible tells us, “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!” I Corinthians 9:24 NLT

God doesn’t want us to make excuses for not doing what is right. He wants us to just do it.

What has God called you to do in 2009? Whatever it is, I’m praying that you will have focus, drive, determination, and the endurance to get it done. I’m praying that you will just do it—joyfully!

“I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.” Psalm 40:8 NLT

May 2009 be the best year you’ve ever had in your life.
